Laser Vision Correction
Laser Vision Correction is the technique that allows removal of refractive errors of the eye using lasers. After Laser Vision Correction, a person need not wear spectacles or contact lenses to see clearly.
Laser Vision Correction works by reshaping of the cornea of the eye, by removing microscopic amounts of tissue from the cornea. By selecting removing tissue from the cornea, the cornea can be reshaped. Its focusing power is thus changed, and this results in a change in the overall refractive error of the eye. By carefully designing this change, one can completely eliminate the need for wearing spectacles and contact lenses.
Corneal reshaping using lasers is computer controlled and very precise. With modern laser vision correction, more than 98% of all patients need not wear glasses anymore, including those patients with very high corrections.
There are many techniques of laser vision correction. The most advanced, safest and most precise techniques are ReLEx smile and Bladeless LASIK.
